Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  The bases we have made for our Artisan models are based on the Harrison's True Edge base. Obviously, they are not identical because that would be copying... and we don't do that.

 

 

There are two options on our Artisan sprung edge base.

1. The Bonnell coil sprung edge base as our starter model

2. Pocket Sprung ‘True Edge’ base as our premium model

Both are fully upholstered in a fabric of your choice.  This allows you to choose a base suitable for your budget and requirements. Both are an exceptionally high-quality base and your preference will depend on how discerning you want to be about your sprung edge base!  In a blind test, they feel the same but the 'True Edge' in the pocket sprung base means that the mattress doesn't sink when you sit on the edge of your bed.

 

 

Our solid wood timber frames are Canadian Spruce which is sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved sources making it a sustainable choice. These solid wood frames are then upholstered with 600GSM of Cotton Wool Upholstery to give a soft padded feel to them.

Spring edged bases can be looked at as mini mattresses between the main mattress and the base. It offers a progressive support that reduces the strain from the body weight of the user. This significantly improves the overall comfort level of a mattress. This difference in comfort is often described as ‘Softer’ when compared to a Platform top divan equivalent.  The use of a sprung edged base also has the tendency to increase the lifespan of the mattress. The theory being that the actual springs inside the mattress are sharing the load with a further set of springs within the base.

 

 

 

The Artisan Naturals is a good all-round medium feel mattress and a soft spring tension would give your daughter the correct level of support for her body weight.
