How to soften up a brand new mattress quickly

I have my bed on top of my old box springs, I have not slept onit yet, but did lay on it. Oh dear, it's seems so firm was hoping for a more plush, softer have a bad back, and have slept on my daughters bed which is soft, What can I do can I exchange it for softer mattress? Will it loosen up? And it's been sitting for 12 mhrs should I sleep on it. Thank you please respond promptly worried here. Sincerely Lois Obrien.

Your main problem regarding return is the fact that you have had it for a considerable time and have not used it in that time. If after actually sleeping on it is still feels firm after a couple of days, you may consider the purchase of a topper, which will soften the feel of the mattress.

I note that you have not indicated your body weight or the spring tension of the mattress, which are considerations to be made at the point of purchase as different body weights dictate different spring tensions and if you don't get this right at the outset, you will, undoubtedly, experience problems sleeping.
