A customer asked

Dear Sirs, Our bed frame is slatted with a central support and the are 4" apart.

We now have a Hypnos mattress, should we use some sort of support between the Slats and the mattress and what type would you suggest.

Thank you, Ian Dunham >

Hi Ian,

Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  We recommend that slats are no further than 3" apart as the springs tend to settle between the slats.  This means that you would not get the correct support from your mattress and over time your mattress may become damaged.  If the space between the gaps is less than 3" we would recommend a soft cushioning, such as an old duvet to help prevent indentations in the upholstery layers on the underside of the mattress.

For your situation, we would advise that you board over the slats with either MDF or Plywood to avoid humps or dips in the mattress which can occur if the mattress starts to conform to the gaps.

If you would like to discuss this or anything else please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.  Our office hours are 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and  10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Kind Regards

Michaela
