Is a memory foam topper the solution?

A customer asked

hi. thanks for that. do you think buying a memory foam topper would be the solution. also, would a 3cm topper work or would i have to go for a 3inch one?

i've read some of the comments left by others and some have mentioned putting a mdf board or something similar in between the slats and mattress. would this be ideal for this mattress and bed as well to prevent the really springy edges that make you think you'll roll off the bed?

Hi Fmax.

Even though we do not like Memory Foam it does seem to be an acceptable solution for your problem.

As for depth, a good couple of inches should give you an adequate comfort layer. Just be mindful that memory foam will retain the heat from your body throughout the night so if you are already a hot sleeper this will worsen the problem. Opting for a natural fibre topper would eliminate the heat problem.

As there is no substantial weight in your mattress it may be that the sprung slats could do with bedding down with some MDF. Covering over the base area with a 3-5mm piece of MDF or Plywood. If ventilation is a problem you can use Pegboard.

Try the topper first and see how it goes.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards,

John and Ryan.
