Latex mattress topper
I have a vi-spring medium pocket sprung mattress. Would a latex topper help my lumbar region back-ache which gets worse in bed at night? Is it ok to put a latex topper on a pocket sprung mattress? Many thanks for your advice
Hi Prue,
I note that you say your current mattress has a medium spring tension and that you suffer from lumbar region back ache.
When advising on the appropriate mattress for someone, the primary consideration is that person's body weight.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
If you are under 10 stone, we would normally recommend a soft spring tension and if you are between 10 and 17 stone that is the medium spring bracket. If you are lighter than 10 stone the reason for your back ache is likely to be that the mattress is too firm for you.
A mattress topper can be used to soften the feel of a mattress, which may be too firm without and although latex can be used, if your mattress has natural upholstery, I would normally recommend a topper comprised of natural material to compliment the mattress.
You can use latex, but before opting for this, I would suggest you call our office to receive some further specific advice regarding the suitability.
I trust that this helps.
Kind Regards Gary
