Looking for a mattress that will not exacerbate back problems

A customer asked

Hello. I wonder if you could give me some advice? I weigh about 9 stone 5 and currently don't have a partner (although I wouldn't rule that out!). I have a bad lower back and also a lot of neck pain so I'm looking for a matress that will not exacerbate these problems and ideally one that will help. I tend to be very cold when I first get into bed (and in winter use a hot water bottle or an electric blanket) and to use a warm duvet etc. Having said that my new bedroom is in the loft space of a tiny open plan house with a wood burning stove so it should be very warm up there in the winter. I'm on a tight budget but on the other hand chiropracter visits are expensive so I want to buy wisely. I've been recommended a 4000 pocket sprung matress with 'zero gravity' foam. I wondered if this is necessary given my circumstances or whether there are better alternatives?? Thank you in advance for any advice you can give. Suzi

Hi Suzy,

Thank you for your question.

The use of more than 1000 springs in a double/king size mattress is, in our view, overkill and 1000 springs will provide adequate support for someone of your body weight.

I am not able to provide any comment in respect of "zero gravity foam" as this is something I have not come across before.

Please view the products in our Origins range in particular the Origins Pocket 1500 and call our office to obtain more specific advice as to the suitability of those products for your circumstances.

Kind regards.
