Marks and Spencer's ortho mattress
I am interested in the Marks and Spencer's Ortho 1500 king size mattress extra firm. I believe they are made by Reylon. I have read bad reports that they are are a bad mattress, the ones bought at benson for beds. We are both about 12-14 stone and like the firmer feel, the mattress we have now gives us both a bad back. Could you give any feedback on this and recommend a mattress from you. I did see a mattress on your website Origins Pocket 1500 but it says medium. Would this be a comparison ?
Hi Colin,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The first thing to say is that we cannot provide any form of comparison to the Marks & Spencer product because the published details of the construction and upholstery in terms of the GSM (grams per square metre) are very limited.
In addition the mattress is described as extra firm, which is not what we would recommend for your body weights.
Your body weights dictate the spring tension and the comfort or feel is determined by the upholstery.
Whilst we note that you are both in the medium spring tension bracket, we also note that you prefer a firmer feel.
The Origins Pocket 1500 has a standard medium tension spring unit together with man made upholstery providing an overall medium feel.
We would suggest that if you want a firmer feel, that you look at the Origins Pocket Reflex 1000, which also has the standard medium spring unit with some man made upholstery and a layer of reflex foam providing a slightly firmer feel that the 1500, which may be more suitable for you.
We trust that the above helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance in respect of our products, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.
Kind Regards Gary
