Mattress advise for bad back

Su Soppitt

Hi. For the last 7 years I have been sleeping on a memory foam mattress. I am now suffering with severe lower back pain (not caused by the mattress though now not helped). I am 8.5 stone in weight and 5’1” in height; I am also now waking every morning in cold sweats so need something that helps with temperature control. Could you please suggest a mattress that would be a suitable replacement? I sleep alone and have a slatted double bed. Many thanks, yours painfully. Su

Hi Su,

Thank you for your question.

With your particular bod weight, I would suggest that you need a soft spring tension and unfortunately, memory foam has a tendency to be quite firm even after providing the initial sink feeling. What you need is a spring tension that suits your body weight in terms of support together with upholstery that provides you with the comfort required whilst limiting the temperature build up.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Pocket spring mattress hand stitching

Please view the Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004, both of which should be selected with a soft spring tension. The major difference between the two is that the Naturals has 85% natural upholstery whereas the Bespoke 004 has 100%. If your budget will not stretch to either of these, please view the Origins Comfort 1000.

I trust that this is of assistance to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
