Hello John & Ryan,

We currently have an old ikea mattress which has dipped and sagged. I am a side sleeper and weigh 115 kg, 183 cm. My partner is 78 kg, 179 cm and they sleep on their back. Which mattress would you recommend

Hi,

Thank you for your question. It can be difficult to find a mattress that suits couples with different sleep positions and body weights. It may be necessary to compromise.

We do not recommend firm upholstery for side sleepers as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders and hips, likewise, for back sleepers soft upholstery can cause lower back and neck pain. We would recommend the medium comfort of the Artisan Naturals or Origins Pocket 1500.

At your body weight, we would pair you with the firm spring tension to give you the correct level of support and your partner with the medium spring tension to give them the correct support.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

As we are creatures of habit we tend to sleep in the one position which means the upholstery layers where you lie the most will settle leaving the surrounding upholstery layers like new and not settled to the same degree. We recommend turning the mattress regularly and utilising the whole of the sleep surface so that the upholstery settles evenly.

I hope this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards

Michaela
