Mattress help for degenerative discs

A customer asked

Hi another seeking help. Would like to replace a kingsize mattress with kingsize link and zip matress(mainly down to access as opposed to different mattress tensions) Old mattress was a cage sprung orthopaedic so was pretty firm. OH suffers with degenerative discs and prefers to sleep on a 'firm' matress(which suits me too) Re weights 10 and 14 stone. Was looking at the 2000 but reading your article re single matresses being firmer, will this be too firm?

I guess having comfy padding would be good although we have slept on a foam matress once and hated it so obviously wouldn't want anything too enveloping. The more I read the more confused I become :) Thanks
