Hi Dina,
Thank you for your question. When looking for a new mattress, you need to consider a few things. The correct level of support for your height and body weight is essential. This will allow your body to find its own level and not force it into an unnatural position. The medium spring tension supports body weights up to 17 stone, depending on your height, and the firm spring tension supports body weights between 17 stone and 23 stone, also depending on your height.
| Bodyweight | Spring tension |
|---|---|
| Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
| 16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
| Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
Comfort layers that contain natural fibres will provide a cooler sleep surface and help you to regulate your body temperature. These fibres are also more durable, which means the lifespan of the mattress will be much longer, however, these do come at a premium. Manmade fibres are more budget-friendly but are not as breathable or durable.

The upholstery layers should be determined by your sleep positions and comfort preferences. We do not recommend soft upholstery layers for front and back sleepers, as this can cause lower back pain. Likewise, we do not recommend firm upholstery layers for side sleepers as this can cause pressure pain in the shoulders, hips and knees. If you are a combination sleeper, we recommend a medium level of comfort in the upholstery layers, which will provide cushioning when sleeping on your side, but the supportive layers underneath mean you will not sink in too much when sleeping on your front or back. Our most popular medium comfort manmade fibre mattress is the Origins Pocket 1500. This mattress is also available with a 2000 spring to support body weights between 17 stone and 22 stone, depending on your heights.

We pair our Origins range of natural fibre mattresses with the Contemporary Platform base. Yoy can put them on your boxspring, which cushions the mattress, similar to the Artisan Pocket Sprung base. You can put them on a pocket sprung base, however, this type of base will soften the overall feel of the mattress. The type of base you choose is down to personal preference.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss your individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
