Mattress topper for firm bed

Hi, we recently purchased a Silentnight Ashridge pocket sprung firm double mattress from DREAMS (wish we'd known about you before!) We are both 5ft 7in tall, I weigh 9st and my husband 11st 7lb. I find the mattress very hard and get pressure pain on my hips and shoulders if I sleep on my side and back pain if I sleep on my back. I can also feel the bumps and hollows of the tufting even though it doesn't look too pronounced. My husband finds the mattress comfortable. We are still within the 40 night comfort guarantee period but quite honestly can't find anything else that we think would be more suitable. Dreams are pushing us towards the Tempur 22 firm mattress as an alternative but we don't want to buy Tempur. I wondered whether one of your toppers would help?

Hi Nicola

Thanks for your question.

Mattress toppers add that instant extra layer to sink into, and will soften a mattress in some shape or form, depending on the depth of the topper, and the filling inside.

Please see the construction method of mattress topper here.

Foam and Latex toppers like those in our range, Laygel, Coolblue and Latex offer a slightly more supportive feel to the top of the mattress, when compared to toppers filled with fibres, where the comfort is more of a cushioning than a moulding.

One thing you could try before you buy a topper, is put a spare duvet under your fitted sheet, to see if adding some extra layers to sink into, helps alleviate your aches and pains.

If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.

Regards Gary
