They enable really deep filled mattresses to be compressed to a manageable size meaning super full plump sleep fillings. The diameter of a mattress the wool tuft is 4cm across and they are recessed into the mattress. Most people don't even notice they are there. They are connected via a ribbon that passes through the mattress.
