The main consideration when advising upon a new mattress is the body weights of those using it. The weight usually determines the spring tension most suitable i.e under 10st is soft, 10-16st would be medium with 17st and above being firm. From this you can see that you fall within the medium spring tension range and I would not advise a firm mattress for either of you.

You may be aware that previous advice from organisations such as the Institute of Chiropractors was that if you have back problems you ought to have a firm mattress. However, that advice is outdated with most organisations suggesting that what is required is support from the spring unit and comfort from the upholstery, in fact the exact advice that we offer.

I have not been able to find the Sealy mattress you refer to and am unable to ascertain if it is now made under a different model name. In addition to this, I cannot provide a recommendation as to a comparable product from our ranges because of the lack of specific detail available.
