Mohair allergy with mattresses and alternative beds
We are interested in an Artisan Naturals mattress but my wife is allergic to mohair. In this mattress, is the mohair natural fibre sufficiently sealed in for no fibres to escape and affect her?
Hi Peter,
Many thanks for your question about mohair fibre mattresses and allergies.
The quick answer is although the fibres are separated individually and then contained with a hair proof cambric cover we can never fully guarantee that fibres don't migrate out over time. So for your wife, we would advise you to look for a different model so you can avoid the allergen altogether.
A mattress with a similar feel without mohair is our Artisan Bespoke 004.
The Artisan Bespoke 004 has a very similar feel and make up when compared to the Vispring Regal Superb.
The generous upholstery layers of Blended British Fleece Wool & Cotton followed by Bamboo, 1400GSM total, gives a breathable and flexible Comfort Layer to this mattress. Allowing you to stay warmer during the colder months and cooler during the summer due to the high wicking properties of this mattress.
The 1200GSM of Pure Horsetail acts as a secondary spring support layer giving the medium feel to the mattress. There is no mohair in this mattress compared to the Artisan Naturals.
It features 1600 Calico Encased Vanadium Coated Pocket Springs – in 3 tension choices dependant on your bodyweight – to provide support for endless nights of perfect sleep.
