Natural fibre mattress suitable for someone who is allergic to wool

Thank you for contacting us regarding a new mattress which contains natural fibres but without the presence of wool due to your health condition.

When choosing a new mattress you need to ensure that not only do you receive the correct level of support but also the correct level of comfort.

The support is provided by the internal spring unit and is dictated by body weight and height whereas the level of comfort is provided by the upholstery fillings which are on top of the spring unit and is usually dictated by your sleeping position.   A side sleeper would require either soft or medium level of comfort so that there is cushioning for shoulders and hips, a back sleeper would require something more medium as this will keep the spine aligned and a front sleeper would require something slightly firmer as this will stop the tummy from sinking into the upholstery layers causing an unnatural arch in the back.

Natural fibres do create the coolest sleeping surfaces as they are breathable durable and responsive so much better for you than man made fibres specially if you are a hot sleeper.

As wool would cause a health problem for you, the only mattress which we make that contains natural fibres is our Artisan Latex.   This mattress is 100% plant based and does not contain any wool within its components and is our Vegan mattress.    Below is a list of the upholstery fillings contained within the mattress however the level of comfort provided by this mattress is slightly firmer to that of a medium feel.

The other mattresses within our Artisan Range which contain natural fibres also contain wool and the only way that you could proceed with a wool mattress would be to consider purchasing a mattress encasement.   This is a type of mattress protector that encloses the entire mattress on all sides and typically zips up.  It can defend against allergens that build up within the mattress.
