Origins pocket 1500 and sprung slat base?

Hi,
I'm considering purchasing your origins pocket 1500 mattress, however our new bed has sprung slats and I noticed on one of your q&a you mention not using the mattress without flat bases. I don't really want to go through hassle of organising mdf base so was wondering if the origins pocket mattress would still be satisfactory to use on sprung slats e.g it's just recommended for optimal comfort, or do you recommend another type of mattress for that base?
My details are approx 13 stone in weight, 6 foot. My partner is approx 11 stone and 5 foot 10. We're aiming for medium firmness in a mattress.
Many thanks

Hi Anon,

Thanks for your question.

We would recommend boarding the slats with MDF or plywood where the gaps between the slats are bigger than 3". If they aren't then they are usually fine to go straight on to the base but you might want to place an old duvet down to protect from splinters etc.

If the slats are sprung with a central support bar then you might want to place some MDF down straight away as it can cause a ridge in the middle of the mattress where it attempts to settle.

The Origins Pocket 1500 would be ideal for your bodyweights and the feel you're looking for. This mattress has a medium spring tension as standard then with a medium upholstery giving a slight sink but not too much.

If you need any more guidance please don't hesitate to get back in touch on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
