A customer asked

I currently have a orthopeadic mattress which is about 4 years old.

It is now sagging and is getting lumpy especially on my husbands side.

I like a firm mattress and am only small but my husband is 6 foot 4 and weighs about 16stone.

I tried to prolong the life of our mattress by turning it regularly but this didnt seem to help.

Could you please advise what the best mattress option would be.

Thanks .

Hi Lowri.

Thank you for your enquiry.  At your husband body weight he is borderline between the medium spring tension and the firm spring tension but given his height, I would recommend a medium spring tension to give him the correct level of support.  As you are only small it may be necessary for a split spring tension one piece mattress or even a zip and link set. Available in our Artisan range in king size and above.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

For a firmer feeling mattress, you should be looking at firmer upholstery, not firm springs.  In order to recommend a mattress for yourselves, I would need your body weight, sleeping habits and budget.  If you would like to discuss the suitability of any of our mattresses please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
