Recommended mattress for my wife and myself.

My wife suffers from COPD, and sleeps with a pillow to 'prop' her up; she also has osteoporosis in the bottom of her spine, so should lay with her spine straight. She sleeps on her back, is 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighs less than 7 stones. I am 5 feet 6 inches tall, weight 12 stone, and sleep on my side, but turn a lot in my sleep. Which mattress or mattress /base combination would you recommend?

Hi David,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The first thing to say is that with such differences in weight, you ought to be looking at a split tension mattress, soft for your wife and medium for yourself. Such mattresses are only available in our Artisan range in a king size and above.

Given that your wife needs to be kept in the right position, with a soft spring it may be more appropriate to look at a medium feel in the upholstery as too soft will cause her back to dip.

Please view the Artisan Naturals, Artisan Bespoke 004 and the Artisan Bespoke, all of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and all of which contain natural upholstery.

The Naturals and 004 will provide a medium feel overall in the upholstery even if your wife selects a soft spring, whereas the Bespoke has the firmer feel in that range of mattresses.

All of the above mattresses are paired with a true edge sprung base as standard.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our Advisor's.

Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
