Regarding the use of a mattress topper with a pillow top mattress

Hi,
I wrote this question to you the other day, "My pillow top mattress is sagging in the middle. Can I put a mattress topper on top of the pillow top mattress or will that be too much?" The mattress in question is not my own. I misunderstood the problem. The pillow top mattress is not sagging, but it is lumpy. It was described to me as feeling like there is a steel bar in the middle of the mattress. (There is not an actual bar.)

Hi again Tracy,

Thank you for your question.

pillow top mattress

The issue with lumpiness is an inevitable result of purchasing a mattress with a fixed topper (pillow top), because you cannot remove the topper to rejuvenate the same by shaking and fluffing as you would do with a separate topper.

The application of another topper may only provide a temporary resolution and you may find that ultimately, a new mattress will need to be purchased.

The only one sided mattresses that are even worth a look at are those that contain a a top layer of Latex similar to our Origins Pocket Latex 1500.

John Ryan By Design Origins Latex
1 300 gsm Wool Silk blend pad
2 3cm Talalay Latex (60/40% blend) 70kg Density
3 3cm Talalay Latex (60/40% blend) 70kg Density
4 One inch HD Foam
5 1500 Spun Bond Pocket Springs

Do not buy another pillow top!
