We want to replace a 20+year old Dunlopillo Diamond zip and link king sized mattress. The label on it says luxurious latex interior, no turn, hypo allergenic, long lasting support, contours to your body, self ventilating, silent in use. It is 15-16cms in depth and 6' 6" long. My husband has always found it to be very comfortable - he is about 12 stone in weight. We want to keep the original sprung wooden slat base. Can you recommend a mattress please?

Hello Margaret,

It is interesting to note that your current mattress has lasted so long. As you may be aware the owner of Dunlopillo has changed several times in the last decade and so has the quality of the products made by them. We do not make zip and link mattresses in our Fusion (latex) range but would suggest you view the Fusion 5 which is a solid core 18cm mattress and is double-sided.

This mattress can be used with your slatted base, however, we would recommend placing this (3-5mm) MDF sheeting over the slats to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent the possibility or ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats. I note that you have disclosed details of your husband's body weight, but nor your own. I would suggest that before placing an order, you all our office to receive more specific advice as to the suitability of this product for you.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419

Kind regards
