Yes, we would be looking to replace one of the mattresses only.. My husband has no problem with his.. On the question of protecting the underside of a new mattress... we have a Bico foam topper which is 5cm thick purchased to try and make my mattress more acceptable - we could put this under both mattresses on top of the slats.. do you think that would work?
Hi Barbara,
The topper would act as a barrier between the mattress and the base, but is unlikely to provide full protection against the possibility of ridging.
Ideally, we would recommend the use of thin (3-5mm) MDF sheeting, although this would have the effect of making the mattress feel firmer.
