Side support within a mattress
- I think the last bed we purchased from you was an Artisan 3 medium which was great although it deteriorated quicker than I feel it should have after 5 years.
- surprisingly it was on my wife’s side of the bed that collapsed she is 9 stone but sleeps on the edge despite rotating the mattress. I am 14.5 .
- We are currently looking to replace but would like the same with extra support on the sides.
- is this possible ?
Hi,
Thank you for contacting us regarding a new mattress.
Edge support refers to the amount of resistance that a mattress can provide around its edges. It essentially acts as an encasement that goes around the frame of a mattress. Edge support is usually provided by a single row of firm tension pocket springs, usually a 1.6 gauge. This acts as a stabilising perimeter around the mattress. We are not able to make an even firmer spring around the edge of our mattresses as 1.6 gauge is the firmest that we make.
The mattresses in our Artisan range already have the benefit of having two rows of firmer springs around their outer edges to help combat the feeling of rolling off and make you feel safer as you sleep.
I hope this assists however should you require further information or advice, please do not hesitate to give our friendly team a call on 0161 437 4419.
Kind regards Julie
