The mattress in question is used on a slatted base the slattes are not sprung and after 3 years the mattress now has troughs in it and its a no turn type what type of mattress should I be buying for a double bed on a limited budget that is why I purchased this mattress online so I am not sure if it will be covered by siletnights 5year guarantee?

Hi Carol,

When using a slatted base, whether for a single or double sided mattress, we always advocate placing some form of barrier between the mattress and the slats to prevent the very issue you refer to. I would normally recommend this (3-5mm) MDF sheeting, however, you should be aware that this will make any mattress placed on it feel slightly firmer than it does at present.

It wouldn't do any harm to approach Silentnight to see if there is anything they can do. I trust that this helps, kind regards.
