A customer asked

Hi I brought a wooden slatted bed and pocket sprung mattress the problem I have is that the slats fall out of their plastic covers and on to the floor, my uncle who used to work for a bed retailer told me I need a second mattress under the pocket sprung one to support and distribute the weight evenly if this is correct what kind of mattress should be best for the bottom?

.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your question.

I'm not particularly sure what's happening here.

If the slats are falling out of the plastic covers then it would indicate that they maybe aren't fitted correctly.

We wouldn't advise to place one mattress underneath another. There would be no particular benefit to doing this.

What would you be trying to achieve by putting 2 mattresses atop each other?

Who is the bed for? What are the body weights? We would need some further information in order to discuss this further.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Please don't hesitate to come back to us at your earliest convenience on 0161 437 4419 to discuss this further. Our office is open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kind Regards, Lee.
