Which is the best type of mattress for someone with fibromyalgia?

Julie Answered 8 months ago

Hi Kim,
Thanks for contacting us with regard to a mattress suitable for someone with fibromyalgia.  We do get asked this question quite a lot so hopefully we will be able to guide you to a mattress which will provide you with good support together with a good level of comfort

Fibromyalgia: Sleep & Mattress Guide

When advising customers on a suitable mattress, we do take into account body weights and heights together with sleeping positions, ie: side back or front as this enables us to recommend the correct level of support and correct level of comfort required.   However most customers who suffer with fibromyalgia do seem to prefer a softer level of comfort which allows shoulders and hips to sink in thus avoiding pressure pain in those areas.
When looking at a traditional pocket sprung mattress, these are made up in two parts with the internal spring unit providing support and the fibres or fillings providing comfort and this is why we require body weights etc.

If you do prefer a softer level of comfort, I would recommend looking at our Artisan Range of mattresses which are our handmade mattresses which contain natural fibres and with this in mind, I would recommend the Artisan Luxury.   This mattress provides the sleeper with a soft to medium level of comfort and contains 100% natural fibres together with a chemical free cover.  It contains 1476 calico encased pocket springs which is the best spring unit you can possibly have inside a mattress as again it is very breathable.
