We make divan bases in any size from single through to Super King and these bases can be made in a wide range of fabrics and come in two parts for easy assembly and delivery.

Divan bases are the most popular type of bases that can be made and are made specifically to take the weight of your mattress.

There are two types of divan base either with a platform top or with springs.

Depending on the type of mattress you are sleeping on, a platform base is usually paired with either a foam type mattress or with a traditional pocket sprung mattress whereas a sprung divan base is generally paired with a traditional pocket sprung mattress as this type of base cushions your mattress.

A sprung edge divan features a spring unit housed within the base which is then upholstered. It’s almost like a mattress for your mattress and helps even out the strain put on mattresses over time.

A platform top divan has a solid top and is still upholstered however this doesn’t contain springs or any moving parts.

A sprung divan base will soften the overall feel of a mattress as it is akin to putting your mattress on top of a mattress.

A platform top base will slightly firm the mattress up.

The ranges to look at on our site are either the Artisan Pocket Sprung Divan Base or the Origins Platform Divan Base and as mentioned above, can be made as a small double (4ft wide).

The bases can come with drawers in the format of 2 full drawers, 4 full drawers or 2 half drawers & 2 full drawers.    The 2 half drawers are small and are usually ordered if you have bedside cabinets as this then allows access to the drawers without having to move the bedside cabinets.
