Hi,
I'm on the verge of purchasing the Staples Grandeur divan set from Bensons for beds :
My partner and I both found it extremely comfortable (in a 'comfort 3' firmness) but I have a niggling suspicion that I can get the same level of comfort for a better price point elsewhere. I've also noted your advice regarding a fixed pillow top on a mattress. Can you suggest any alternatives for a better price of provide advice as to the best way of finding the right bed for us?
Thank you

Hi Temporary_user!

Thanks for getting in touch. You're right to avoid a pillowtop, they are a really poor construction method as we have detailed here.

Let's have a look at the vague detail on this mattress.

  • 2,250 premium pocket springs (No gauge specified or details on the pocket spring covering, ie is it synthetic or calico? )
  • Opulent Belgian damask mattress cover (Standard mattress cover material)
  • Sumptuous, deep-tufted pillowtop with mini springs (The dreaded pillow top! Once this fails then the mattress is useless and it render this a one sided no turn mattress)
  • Finest natural fillings for outstanding comfort (Without the GSM or weights of these materials this detail is useless again. Unless you know the weight there's no way you can compare)
  • Natural cashmere, silk, wool and cotton (Again the GSM's are essential for this to make any sense)

The only detail we can go off is that it's a medium feel mattress.

We would suggest you have a look at our Artisan Naturals in a medium spring tension as a starting point of a far better alternative in the same price range, two-sided, natural fibre mattress that has vanadium coated calico pocket springs and hand side stitching.
