Sweat stains despite using waterproof mattress protector

Thank you for your question. We would always recommend following the care instructions for any products you purchase. Washing your protector at least once a month or more often for those who sweat a lot will prolong the lifespan of both the protector and the mattress it is protecting. Body oils and sweat can sit on the mattress protector and push through over time.

What is a mattress protector? A mattress protector is like a fitted sheet which can be quilted or towelling and some have waterproof backing. This is the first line of defence your mattress has against sweat, spills and other fluids. Without this, your mattress may quickly become stained and damaged. Think of it as a washable protective cover that sits under your bedding. A mattress protector doesn't need to be expensive but needs to be deep enough to cover your mattress, and topper if you have one.

Do I need a mattress protector? The simple answer is yes! Most mattress protectors are machine washable and some can even go in the tumble dryer.  This means you can wash and clean them alongside your regular bed linen maintenance routine.

Although your mattress has sweat stains, all is not lost. It is possible to clean these stains without damaging your mattress. You can also have the mattress professionally steam cleaned.
