two 2' 6'' beds that can be joined together to create a king size bed or be two separate beds for children - query on storage

Is it possible to have ottoman bases on 2'6'' beds so that two could be linked together (with zip and link mattress) or be separate in a guest room, to accommodate grandchildren or an adult couple?
