I like firm mattress like they have in hotels. I don't like foam ones that feel hot. I need back support and my current mattress gives me neck and back pains. I am 5 '2 in height and 140 lbs. I require a king sized mattress. I can look at up to 1500 pounds for a mattress. I want to know how I can make sure the mattress will not be too hard and I want it cool to the feel.

Hi Lourielee,

Thank you for your enquiry.

With your particular body weight, we would suggest that you need a medium spring tension mattress.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Anything firmer would not be appropriate because your weight would not be enough to compress a firm spring and it would feel like lying on a plank. This could also cause you to develop aches and pains making sleep uncomfortable.

Please view the Origins Pocket 1500, which has a standard medium tension spring unit together with man made upholstery providing an overall medium feel. This mattress should not cause you to overheat and is comparable in feel only to the Premier Inn mattress.

Alternatively, if you wanted natural upholstery, please view the Artisan Naturals, Artisan Bespoke 004.

Both of these mattresses can be made with a medium spring tension to suit with the Naturals and 004 having a similar feel in the upholstery. Natural upholstery is renowned for the lack of heat generation making sleep comfortable but not making you overheat.

We trust that this help but if you require any further advice or guidance please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our Advisors.

Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
