A customer asked

We are thinking of buying a Skye storage bed from Made.com. We would need a king size mattress. We have looked at the Harrison mattresses in a local independent store but to be honest were a bit baffled by the choice. Reading your website has been of great interest! The local shop did not recommend a ottoman style lift up storage bed, but our daughter has a Tempur one and has had no problems.
My husband is 6ft, weighs 12st, I am 5ft 4 and weigh 10and 1/2 stone.
We likes the Harrison medium , non turn.
Would welcome your comments and a guide to buying a similar mattress from you.
Many thanks
Lynda

Hi Lynda,

Thank you for your question.

The first thing I would say is that it is impossible to advise whether we have or even if there any other products on the market which are of similar construction and feel as the Harrison's products. This is because they do not disclose specific details of the upholstery used in terms of the GSM (grams per square metre).

Single sided mattresses also have an inherent downside, being that the longevity is compromised by only being able to utilise one side, even if you rotate regularly to change the sleep surface.

Your body weights dictate the use of a medium spring tension and I would suggest that you view the products in our Artisan Range as those mattresses have natural fillings.   Our starter model is the Artisan 1500 which has 50/50 natural fillings and man made fibres and gives an overall medium feel from those fillings.   The Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 and the Artisan Naturals both have 85% natural fillings and again will give an overall medium comfort.  The Artisan Bespoke 004 has 100% natural fillings and a medium comfort from all those fillings.   The difference in price is due to the amount of natural fillings in the mattresses and the more natural fillings, the more the cost of the mattress.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

These mattresses are heavy though and I would recommend seeking advice as to the maximum weight appropriate for the storage bed you are considering.
