Which mattress is best for my failed hip replacement?

John

I have bad hips, one has a failed replacement and the other is nearly worn out because of the extra work it has to do. I do move about a lot in bed because of my hips and I get quite a lot of pins and needles and numbness . I lay on my side either one or the other. My present mattress is an ageing Harrison 1000 extra firm and my weight is fifteen and a half stone. I have been looking around for some time but having found your website I am more confused than ever. I do not have a lot of money to spend and thought that I would ask your advice before making my final decision as your the experts I hope. I have been looking at your Origins range but do not know which will suit me best. Many thanks.

Hi John,

Thank you for your question.

Given your body weight, I would suggest that a medium feel mattress would be more appropriate. The extra firm feel of the Harrison's product is no doubt what is causing you to experience numbness and pins and needles as these are obvious symptoms when you have a mattress which is too firm for your body weight. The Origins Pocket 1500 will provide you with a medium feel from the spring unit whilst retaining comfort in the upholstery layers.

1 300gsm Wool
2 750gsm Very Soft Polyester
3 500gsm Polyester Pad
4 One Inch Foam Insulator Layer
5 1500 Spun Bond Pocket Springs

This mattress can be used on your current slatted base with peg board covering, which will provide a very slightly firmer feel, but certainly not as firm as your current mattress.

I trust that this helps, but if you require any further guidance or advice, please call our office.

Kind regards,
