I have recently purchased a mattress that is medium firm believing it would be right and unfortunately my partner and I both experience upper to mid back pain when awaking, I believe this may be due to the mattress being too firm.I am 6 foot and weigh 14/15 stone but my partner is 5 foot 2 and weighs about 7/8 stone. We are unable to afford a entirely new mattress but believe a mattress topper would be the solution we are looking for. What could you recommend?

Hi John,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

With your particular body weights, we would not have suggested that you have a medium/firm tension mattress. In fact, a split spring tension, medium for you and soft for your partner is more appropriate. Mattress toppers are used primarily to provide an extra comfort layer and to soften the feel of a mattress, which may be feeling too firm. As far as recommending a particular topper is concerned, we would suggest that you try to mimic the upholstery in your mattress, if your mattress has natural upholstery, you should look at toppers with natural materials, likewise, if your mattress has synthetic upholstery you should go for man-made fibres.

Latex 100% Natural Mattress Topper

We do make toppers in our Fusion and Hybrid ranges, but these are either natural latex or Laygel or Coolblue foam. If you are interested in one of these, please view them on our site and then call our office for specific advice as to suitability. We trust that this helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards.
