Woolroom Standen mattress
What do you think of the Standen mattress by wool room and what mattress in your range is most similar?
Hi Paul,
Thanks for contacting us regarding the Woolroom Standen mattress and which of our mattresses would be a comparable model.
The Woolroom Standen Mattress contains the following upholstery layers together with 1400 calico encased pocket springs, these are the same springs which we use for our Artisan Range of Mattresses :-
They state that all these layers provide a soft level of comfort which you will sink into and can be made with either a soft, medium or firm spring tension.
When looking at a traditional mattress, these are made up in two ways, with the internal spring unit providing the support and with our mattresses, this is dictated by body weight and height whereas all the fillings or upholstery layers which are on top of those springs providing the comfort and this is dictated by your sleeping position. A side sleeper can sleep on either soft or medium fillings, whereas a back sleeper should have medium and a front sleeper firmer.
The only soft mattress that we make which would be the nearest comparable model to the Woolroom Standen, would be the Artisan Luxury which contains 1476 calico encased pocket springs together with 100% natural fibres. We add two support layers within our mattress being 1200gsm Horsehair and 1200gsm Horsetail as this prevents settlement and indents forming within the mattress. This mattress can be made with either a medium or firm support as we do not make any of our mattresses with a soft spring tension. The reason being that most customers felt that they were not receiving a good amount of support on the soft spring.
ARTISAN LUXURY
Blended Wool and Cotton features as the top Comfort Layer. This 50% Cotton and 50% Wool mix of a substantial overall weight allows for a deep sink sensation.
This is then followed by generous layers of Horsehair and Horsetail.
This Horsehair layer has shorter and finer fibres acting like millions of tiny springs. The loft of this layer is important as a sub-primary comfort layer. It will take a considerable number of years for this product to lose its recovery properties.
This additional layer of wool acts as a cushion between the two horsehair layers so the compression on the preceding layer of horsetail is separate to the compression on the forthcoming layer of horsehair. The support comes from 1476 Calico encased Pocket Springs in a tension of your choice.
8 padded turning handles on a kingsize.
