Zip and link mattresses are available in king size and above and are usually supplied because of access issues, differences in body weight(s)(split spring tensions), because a one piece is too heavy to turn (particularly for the elderly) and where there is a need to split the bed on occasions (B&B/Guesthouses). The zips connect the two halves of the mattress together and are not there for the attachment of a topper.
