Zip mattresses
Hi
we are after a zip linked mattress Our current mattress measures 200 wide by 210 long. We would also need a topper. Could one of the mattresses be firm and the other medium firm?
Hi Andrea,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, it is not possible to make a zip and link mattress with different levels of comfort for each side. We can change the spring tension within the mattress for couples of differing body weights, but we can not change the upholstery layers.
| Bodyweight | Spring tension |
|---|---|
| Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
| 16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
| Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
The spring tension is based on your heights and weights to provide each of you with the correct level of support. If you do not weigh enough to activate a firm spring tension, you will not be supported, likewise, if you weigh too much for a spring tension, you will also not be supported correctly. The correct support is essential to keep your spine aligned.

It is the upholstery layers on top of the springs which provide the overall comfort. We can not put different comfort layers on each side of the mattress as they would have differing heights and would settle at different rates. The level of comfort from the upholstery layers should be based on your comfort preferences and sleep positions. We would not recommend a firm upholstery for side sleepers as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees.

The size that you require is not a standard size. We can make our Artisan range to any size due to the handmade pocket spring units used within these mattresses. There is an additional 10% per 6-inch increment of change on the cost of the closest standard size. The size that you require would be an additional 20% on the cost of a standard super kingsize zip and link mattress. As a bespoke item, it would not be covered under our 60-day love it or return it guarantee, which means that if it is not suitable, you can not send it back for a refund or exchange. We can not make bespoke size mattress toppers.
We recommend trying a mattress for a few weeks to get a true feel for the upholstery layers before adding a mattress topper. It can take 4 - 6 weeks for your body to adjust to a new mattress and for those upholstery layers to start to soften. If you then find the mattress a little too firm, adding a mattress topper can provide additional cushioning. The thickness of the topper would depend on how much softer you want the mattress to feel. We would always recommend getting a mattress topper that complements the fibres within the mattress.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss your individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419 and we will be able to advise you further.
Kind Regards
Michaela
