Bedding FAQ

Why do I need an extra deep fitted sheet?

Standard fitted sheets typically accommodate mattresses up to 25cm deep. Modern mattresses, particularly natural fibre models like our Artisan range, often measure 28-33cm deep. When you add a mattress topper (5-7.5cm) and protector (1-2cm), standard sheets simply won’t fit properly. Our 38cm extra deep design ensures a secure fit on mattresses up to 35cm deep, with enough depth to accommodate toppers and protectors without pulling loose or popping off corners during the night.

How does this compare to the Origins and Luxury Artisan bedding?

This Artisan fitted sheet matches our Artisan duvet cover sets in specification: 100% pure Pima cotton with true 450 thread count single-ply construction. It sits between Origins (cotton-rich blend, 500TC, wrinkle-resistant, easy care) and Luxury Artisan (100% Egyptian cotton, 1000TC, ultimate luxury). The Artisan range offers pure natural fibre performance with excellent durability, perfect for those who prioritise genuine cotton without the premium pricing of Egyptian cotton.

Will this fit my mattress?

Measure your mattress depth from the bottom to the top surface. If your mattress alone measures up to 35cm, this sheet will fit perfectly. If you’re using a topper, add that depth to your mattress measurement. The total should not exceed 35cm. We recommend fitted sheets sit 8cm deeper than your total mattress thickness, so the 38cm depth provides the ideal fit with extra fabric tucked neatly underneath. If your mattress exceeds 30cm with toppers, please contact us for recommendations.

What makes Pima cotton special?

Pima cotton represents less than 3% of global cotton production. The extra-long staple fibres (35% longer than standard cotton) are combed to remove shorter fibres and impurities, then satin-woven to create exceptionally smooth, durable fabric. This processing results in superior softness, better breathability, and longer-lasting quality compared to standard cottons. The natural sheen and silky feel are inherent to properly processed Pima cotton.

Will the elastic wear out?

We use generous elastication at all four corners, specifically engineered to maintain tension through years of use and washing. Pima cotton’s durability extends to the elastic casings, which resist breakdown better than cheaper alternatives. To maximise lifespan, avoid excessively high heat when washing and drying. Most customers report that the elastic remains effective for many years with proper care.

How do I care for Pima cotton sheets?

Machine wash at 40°C using mild detergent. Avoid bleach or fabric softeners, which can damage natural fibres and reduce the sateen sheen. Tumble dry on low heat or line dry. Remove promptly from the dryer to minimise wrinkling. Use a warm iron if desired, though many customers find the natural drape acceptable with minimal pressing. The sheets actually improve with washing, becoming softer and more supple over time.

Can I mix this with other bedding ranges?

Absolutely. Whilst designed to complement Artisan duvet covers and pillowcases, this fitted sheet works beautifully with any of our bedding collections or your existing bed linen. The neutral sateen finish coordinates with most bedroom styles. Many customers mix ranges based on practical needs, using extra deep fitted sheets where required, whilst choosing flat sheets and duvet covers based on colour or finishing preferences.

What colours are available?

We offer a range of colours to suit various bedroom styles and personal preferences. Please check the product page for current colour availability, as our selection evolves based on customer demand and seasonal trends. All colours use the same premium Pima cotton with identical specifications and performance characteristics.

Why single-ply rather than multi-ply yarns?

Single-ply construction produces softer, more breathable fabric that drapes better and lasts longer than multi-ply alternatives. Many manufacturers use multi-ply yarns (twisting multiple threads together) to artificially inflate thread counts for marketing purposes. Our true 450 count with single-ply yarns delivers genuine quality rather than impressive-sounding numbers. The fabric moves more naturally, feels silkier, and maintains its performance characteristics through years of washing.

Ask us a question

No, and no showroom or retailer sells our products. This is part of the reason why our prices can be so competitive: our internet-based company model allows us to avoid passing the excessive costs of other retailers on to our customers. Most staff within showrooms are also not bed experts (unlike our own in-house team). Sadly, such staff probably wouldn’t understand mattress manufacture to the extent that they could reliably answer your questions. To give you confidence in our way of doing things, our 60-day “love it or return it” guarantee offers the ability to return a mattress that doesn’t suit you for a full refund, or you can perform a one-time exchange and swap to an alternative model. You can visit our guarantee page for more information, or our article about buying a mattress online to see just why our approach actually benefits you!

From the time you place your order, there is a 4 week average lead time until delivery for most of our mattress models. This is because all of our mattresses, bases and headboards are handmade to order especially for you! You can visit our delivery page for more information.

No. At present, we don’t ship or deliver worldwide. However, we can deliver your purchase to any UK port that you choose, allowing you to arrange onward delivery from there. If you take advantage of this, please do note that exercising our 60-day “love it or return it” guarantee would require you to return your purchase to us at your own cost.
