First Layer: 750GSM Very soft Polyester. This is the primary comfort layer directly beneath the fabric. In its loose state, the depth of this material is about 3″ in depth. When the mattress is sewn up and tufted, this will be naturally compressed, giving you perfect comfort but also working with the support from the preceding layers.
Second Layer: Further One-inch foam layer: This becomes the third layer increasing the durability aspect but also aiding the support element.
Third Layer: 270GSM Polyester. This is the buffer between the two sheets of foam. Provides ventilation and also reduces the firmness that two sheets of foam on top of each other would naturally give.
Fourth Layer: One Inch foam Insulator: Directly on top of the spring unit, we use a one-inch layer of HD foam. This cushions you from the spring unit but also works with you enabling the pocket springs to rise and fall as you move.
The mattress side panels are machine stitched. Traditionally hand-tufted. Even though the mattress side panels are 10″ deep, the undulations caused by the abundant upholstery brings the mattress depth to a more realistic 13″.

On the image you can see how plush the top surface is gained by the generous layers of wadding – Now do not think it is like sleeping on a foam mattress, it isn’t. The sleeping surface is extremely comfortable gained by the thick extra soft polyester pad.
This mattress has a fixed spring tension and a medium to firm feel in the top upholstery layers.
The overall feel is firmer in the top upholstery layers.

No, and no showroom or retailer sells our products. Our team will be able to guide you to the right product for you and your budget. We grade the products in our warehouse and the grading is decided based on the condition of the product upon return. All mattresses are Grade B or C. At this stage we cannot give you the history of each product or the very specifics of where any marks may be located so if this is important for you to know then a clearance bed may not be for you and you can choose your mattress in the normal way. We do however guarantee that the condition will be no worse than described below and in most cases is actually better!

We purchased an extra-king mattress from John Ryan by design. The mattress was delivered well within the time frame advised at the time of purchase, delivery was a breeze, the two gents who delivered were very polite and courteous and fitted the mattress to our bed. Both my wife agree this is simply the most comfortable mattress we have ever had the good fortune to sleep on. I would highly recommend John Ryan to anybody in the market for a new mattress. Sleeping like a baby
We’ve been sleeping on our new John Ryan mattress (Origins Pocket Reflex 1000) for about a month now. I’ve always been a deep sleeper so my experience has been entirely positive with it so far, falling asleep quickly and not waking up through the night. My partner has struggled to sleep well in the past but she says that her sleep quality has improved. We’re both pleased with how firm the mattress is and its overall feel. It’s the Zip & Link version so we could feel a small gap in the middle at the start but John Ryan customer support responded quickly and advised us how to fix that. Great experience overall.

IOrigins Pocket Reflex 1000
Having purchased Origins pocket reflex 1000 beds previously for 1 of our holiday letting cottages and had so many happy guests, all saying how great the beds were, so comfortable; 2 families even asking where we had bought them, as they would consider changing their own for new ones. It only made sense to buy 2 more for our latest refurbished holiday letting property. Thank you.

I purchased a king-size Origins Pocket Reflex 1000 four months ago, and have waited to post a review in order to reflect my true experience of it over that time. I am pleased to say it is the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. Customer service is second to none, with one-to-one advice provided if needed, and the delivery guys were brilliant. I bought a mid-market double mattress from John Lewis last year and I would say the quality of the John Ryan mattress exceeds the JL mattress by some distance. The next time I need a new mattress, I know where I’ll be heading.
The only downside I found is that my very expensive high-thread count cotton sheets would not fit the mattress as it is very, very deep.

Lovely mattress! I had an Origins 1500 which I liked very much, but which just had a tad too much ‘sink in’ feeling in the top layers for my liking (but it was an exquisitely luxurious mattress and I was reluctant to return it) so I took the risk and swapped for a Reflex 1000. This mattress is perfect for me – very supportive, a firmer feel with less ‘sink in’ than the Origins 1500 but still a nice feeling of deeply cushioned and supportive comfort. Spot on!! The new mattress smell (fire retardants I’m guessing) took much longer to go than the previous mattress, but its fine now and I’m hoping this mattress will last a very long time because its fabulously comfortable! Customer service as ever, utterly faultless and I hope this company last a long time too, because when I do need a new mattress I know where I will be buying from! No more John Lewis, Dreams, Bensons etc. and all the pushy sales techniques!!

We purchased 4 x zip & link mattresses and bases for our two holiday lets about 2 years ago. Business has been extremely busy so the mattresses have been well used. They are still like new and we regularly have guests commenting on the bed comfort. Having spent a month in one of the holiday lets ourselves during house renovations and trying out the mattress, we are now considering purchasing for ourselves. We have bought a couple of beds from John and the team this year. Their customer service is truly outstanding. One bed was an Artisan Naturals zip & link superking with different tensions & a special size to fit our existing frame, and a double Origins Pocket Reflex for our daughter. The beds are fantastic quality and we go to bed knowing we have bought the best beds we could afford. We were probably the most awkward customers of the year, but John, Marie, Michael & Ryan were always most polite and extremely helpful. We wouldn’t buy a bed from anyone else. We can’t rate them highly enough. Thank you for such a great experience, we don’t know what we would have done without you.

I was very pleased with the attention I received the beds arrived double bagged which was highly sensible and necessary and I would not have thought of it myself. They arrived on time I personally thought they looked great. Here follows the comments from my 2 guests who have slept on them.
Ruth – We have spent the last 3 nights on the beds and they are very comfortable , with a slight hammock/water bed feeling that lets you sink into the mattress and is very conducive to a good nights rest. They are a little high which needs to be remembered if you’re not used to it!
Margaret – I SLEPT VERY WELL. THE BED WAS VERY COSY AND COMFORTABLE. SITTING ON THE SIDE TO GET IN AND OUT WAS A BIT LIKE SITTING ON A WATER BED.
