Bamboo mattresses without any foam?

Many thanks for your question about Bamboo mattresses. Yes, we do have a number of mattress models that feature Bamboo without man made synthetic foam.

Bamboo is a fantastically soft and breathable mattress fibre. It’s a plant-based fibre that’s usually used in the very top upholstery or comfort layers of a mattress. ie the bits you sleep directly on. That’s because it’s one of the softer fibres. When placed on top of foam it can become lost as foams are much denser.

This is why we only use Bamboo in our Artisan range of hand made natural fibre mattresses.

The Best Bamboo Mattresses:

Bamboo mattresses are a premium offering as the plant fibre bamboo is quite an expensive resource. However, it does mean that Bamboo mattresses are reserved for the very highest manufacturing methods. Usually, 100% natural fibre, though you should always check the GSM (Grams per square meter) when buying any mattress. Don’t just take the term ‘contains bamboo’ to mean it’s 100% pure bamboo. It may have been blended with synthetic fibres! More on that here.

The Artisan Bespoke 002 mattress is a softer feel in the top upholstery layer with a deeper sink. Perfect for side sleepers or people who like to sink deeply into their mattresses. It features 3600gsm of 100% natural fibre fillings. It has a 10 year guarantee.

When choosing a mattress you do need to work out what spring tension you need before deciding what overall ‘feel’ of the mattress you want. The overall feel is provided by comfort layer ie upholstery whereas the spring tension, soft medium or firm is always based on your bodyweight.
