I am 5’6 weigh 9stone.female.
I had a muscular problem in my back last year and feel I need support in a new mattress. The information seems confusing for example 750 springs etc.,? what do you advise?

Hi Nicola,

Thank you for your enquiry.  The advice used to be that for any form of back problem that you needed a firm mattress.  This is no longer the case, what you do need is the correct spring tension to give you the right level of support which for you would be a medium spring tension.  When it comes to pocket springs this is the important thing, not the spring count which can be confusing.

Upholstery should then be determined by your comfort preferences, sleeping habits and budget.  Different fibres used within each model creates a different feel.  We would not recommend anything too firm for side sleepers as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hip and knees.  Similarly, if you sleep on your front we would not recommend anything to soft as this can cause your back to arch creating back pain.

I trust that this is helpful and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss the suitability of any of our mattresses please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
