Do latex mattresses overheat?

Alison asked

I am considering a latex or a hybrid mattress, but am worried about overheating. I get very hot on a conventional mattress. Our bed is slatted base and at present there is an orthopaedic mattress on which has a softish surface and a firm under layer

Hi Alison,

That’s a great question, and it’s quite subjective as what is warm to one may feel freezing to another!

What we do say is that out of the two 100% natural latex is cooler than Hybrid foam and is fully breathable.

Meaning that if you’re a warm sleeper its less heat retentive and will cool faster than other foams.

Memory foam is notorious at being very heat retentive.

Latex is very progressive and will feel very different to an orthopaedic firm mattress. We would definitely recommend you trying one in a showroom if you have never slept on one.

If you’re a really hot sleeper though we would advise you look at our natural fibres models such as the Artisan range which are high wicking and use natural fibres.

We would need your height, weight and tension preference to help.

Please give us a call if you need any further guidance.

Kind Regards Gary
