TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

mattress-suitable-for-both-of-us-for-ease-of-turning

We want a replacement for our pocket sprung mattress which like us is getting on in years. My partner is 6ft1 in and weighs 15st10lbs and Iam 5ft3in and weigh 8st 10lbs. I have been looking at the Artisan range. I assume because of our weight differences we would be better with either a split med/soft or zip linked med/ soft? What are the advantages/ disadvantages of both? I can see it would probably be easier to turn the zip linked, we struggle a bit turning our current mattress we manage now but can see problems as we get even older. Our current base which we prefer to keep is a sprung slat and we have not had any of the problems with our current pocket sprung that you say can occur. Which mattress would you recommend?

Good afternoon Barbara,

Thank you for your question.

A Zip & Link mattress would certainly be a better option for you, if you are struggling with turning a one piece mattress.   The mattresses in our Artisan Range are very heavy.  I attach a link for you to read which does explain the pros and cons of a ziplink mattress which I hope you will find useful.

All the mattresses in our Artisan Range have different upholstery layers which gives each mattress a different feel.   They are all traditional Pocket Sprung mattresses and as the springs in a mattress are there to give you the correct support, at your body weights, I would recommend a soft spring tension for you and a medium spring tension for your partner.

The first four mattresses in our Artisan Range, Artisan 1500, Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000, Artisan Naturals and Artisan Bespoke 004, have a medium feel in the upholstery layers or comfort layers as we say.  The difference between the four of them is the amount of natural filings in each mattress.

The Artisan Luxury is the softest mattress that we make, the Artisan Bespoke is the firmest mattress that we make and the Artisan Bespoke 002 has a medium comfort layer but as it has a double layer of springs, this gives the mattress a slightly softer spring tension.

From the Artisan Bespoke 004 to the Artisan Bespoke 002, these all have 100% natural fillings.

All of the mattresses in our Artisan Range can go onto a slatted base, all this will do is firm the mattress up slightly.

It may preferable for you to visit a store in your area that sells Vi Spring mattresses as the Artisan Range do have a similar feel to those Vi Spring mattresses.  We attach a link for you to read which gives the comparable model to try.  This will then give you idea as to how our mattresses would feel.   You would however need to try the Vi Spring Bedstead mattresses due to the fact that the mattress is to go onto a slatted base.

We hope the above is of assistance to you, but please do not hesitate to telephone the office should you require any further information on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
