Vi-Spring Herald replacement with John Ryan By Design
Replacing our current 20 yr old Vispring Herald medium sprung mattress, was ok, now uncomfortable. Would prefer to keep the divan base as has very useful drawers.
My husband and I both weigh about 75 kilos and he is 178 cm, I am 176 cm. We are both side sleepers.
I am a light sleeper, and easily woken when he wriggles, goes to loo etc – zipped mattresses?
I am allergic to dust and dust mites, and get super hot if sleeping on synthetics (ie usually have to remove mattress protectors in hotels as sweating within five mins, so don’t think memory foam will work for me. ) Prefer natural ingredients in things anyway.
Totally confused by all the info online, and a visit to John Lewis yesterday did not help!
What would you advise would be suitable for us?

At your body weights we would match you both with a Medium spring tension to get the correct level of support;

The Vi-Spring Herald is a model that we compare to our own Artisan Bespoke. This is the firmest mattress in the upholstery that we retail giving no sort of sink whatsoever. With that in mind though you don’t really disclose if you want replace like for like?
Please note that with allergies you are best looking at an online retailer called Allersafe. They retail mattress encasements that zip entirely around the mattress and help to reduce allergies.
If you suffer disturbance from your husband then the only true way to get away from this is via a Zip and Link mattress. As these are 2 completely independent entities you can’t transfer movement between the springs.
Side sleepers generally should be avoiding anything too firm in the top layers but you’ve proven here that you are the exception to the rule. As such, if you are looking at moving away from the feel of your current mattress then you might want to look at something like our Artisan Bespoke 004.
