Comfort layers and pocket springs serve distinct purposes. Comfort layers determine how deeply you sink into your mattress surface. Soft, plush layers create a softer sink; firmer, denser layers offer a more responsive and even support.

When combined with Pocket Springs this creates luxurious versatility, allowing you to tailor your choice to the mattress most suited to you. Sumptuous, soft comfort layers allow for a deep sink, even with a firmer spring. Conversely, a firmer comfort layer on medium or soft springs can provide a more resilient sleeping surface.

Upholstery Layers

First Layer: 750GSM Very Soft Polyester: This is the primary comfort layer directly beneath the fabric. In its loose state, the depth of this material is about 3″ in depth. When the mattress is sewn up and tufted, this will be naturally compressed, giving you perfect comfort but also working with the support from the underlying layers.

Second Layer: 500GSM Polyester Pad: This is a relatively firm pad and is used primarily as support for the subsequent softer layer.

Third Layer: One-inch foam insulator: We use a one-inch layer of HD foam directly on top of the spring unit. This cushions all the fillings from the spring unit but also works with you, enabling the pocket springs to rise and fall as you move.

The mattress (Side Panel) depth is 10″ plus the undulations caused by the multi-layers of wadding bring the height to a more realistic 13″ deep. The side panels are machine stitched and finished in a complimentary durable fabric.  The mattress cover is a premium soft knit Silk content fabric.

The Origins Comfort is supportive to a level at what we would class as a ‘true medium’ based on average body weight. Not too firm and not too soft. Saying that this is the softest mattress we do use different densities of polyester in the comfort layer. To build softer at this price could only mean a reduction in fillings.

No, and no showroom or retailer sells our products. This is part of the reason why our prices can be so competitive: our internet-based company model allows us to avoid passing the excessive costs of other retailers on to our customers. Most staff within showrooms are also not bed experts (unlike our own in-house team). Sadly, such staff probably wouldn’t understand mattress manufacture to the extent that they could reliably answer your questions.
