As you suggest - a ziplink bed is the first option either on separate divan bases or utilising a Superking bedframe.

Secondly, will your husband be spending more time in the bed other than sleeping? If so, then extra care has to be taken when choosing a satisfactory primary layer.

As for spring type 1500 to 2000 pocket springs is enough to give you both good support.

I assume your husband will be sitting on the edge of the bed for various reasons and in this case seek out as much edge support as you can muster. This will help both in stability for your hubby as well as aiding the longevity of the edge of the mattress.

We would also need to ideally know what your budget is in order for us to recommend one of our zip & link mattresses.

In the Origins Range I would recommend the Origins Pocket 1500 zip & link mattress which will give you both the support you need together with a more forgiving comfort layer allowing you to sink into the mattress very slightly.  This mattress will give a more overall medium feel and comfort.

In the Artisan Range, I would recommend the any of the four mattresses in that Range as they all have a medium comfort layer.  The difference between them is the amount of natural fillings contained within the mattresses.  Whichever mattress you choose from the Artisan Range, it can be made with a medium spring tension to give you both the correct support.

If you are hot sleepers, then the more natural fillings in a mattress the cooler the sleeping surface.
