Is Millbrook Saturn 2500 mattress suitable?

A customer asked

Hi Guys I've recently purchased a Millbrook Saturn 2500 4ft Small Double mattress and am worried my base might not be suitable - it's a slatted base with 9cm gaps - the slats are quite small too at about 9cm each.

If at all possible I'd rather not buy a new base (I'm on a modest budget and overspent on the mattress) but if I'm not going to get the benefit ill find a way.

Many thanks Dave .

Hi Dave.

Thank you for your question. No need to spend if you do not have to.  On a slatted base where the space between the slats is greater than 3 inches (7.5 cm), we recommend boarding them over with MDF or Plywood.  This is because the mattress will settle in the gaps which will cause a lumpy feel to the mattress.  This will damage the mattress over time and you will not get the correct support from the springs.

All our mattresses are fully breathable but if you are concerned about the breathability of the mattress you have purchased then you can use pegboard instead.  Putting an old blanket or duvet over the boarding will help protect the underside of the mattress.

I hope this was helpful and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.  Our office hours are 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Kind Regards

Michaela
