A customer asked

Hi there, I'm a first time buyer looking for a medium mattress that can keep the OH and myself cool during the night. We're both average height and I weigh around 55kg and the OH is about 95kg. I would a prefer organic fillings such as wool however the budget is quite tight at around £250 - 300 max. Is there anything you could recommend?

Hi Victoria,

Thank you for your enquiry.  Unfortunately given your budget you're going to struggle to get a decent synthetic/man-made mattress let alone a naturals fibre mattress. That said there are some excellent man-made mattresses, such as our Origins range that would beat 'natural' equivalents in the same price range.

Origins Pocket spring 1500 mattress

That makes no sense surely you ask? Well I always explain that its better to buy a higher quality lower grade material than a low quality higher grade material. For your price range natural materials will be of the smallest and most meagre GSM (grams per square meter), so you would be better with a higher quality higher percentage synthetic material.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

The weight difference between you and the other half may also make it difficult to get a true medium between the two of you without a split tension bed.

Please get in touch with the office on 0161 437 4419 for more tailored advice and assistance.

Kind Regards
