As per the previous reply to Ben, most retailers won't disclose how they construct and as such it becomes nigh on impossible for us to draw any comparisons. Silentnight is one of them unfortunately.

 

At your body weights we would match you both with a Medium spring tension as standard.

 

Bodyweight	Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg	Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards	Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)	Soft (1.2mm)

 

With your preference for a medium to firm mattress I'd advise to have a look at the Origins Pocket Reflex 1000.

 

This has the medium spring tension as standard but with a slightly firmer upholstery than the Origins Pocket 1500. Whilst it is firmer in that top layer we get a lot of feedback that it's also comfortable at the same time.
