Very lightweight person - mattress help required

A customer asked

I am 7.4 stone and my partner 12.4 stone.

We bought a mattress with a memory foam top 5 years old for £660 but we stored it on its side for 6 months and now we are rolling to each edge.

I'm unsure of the mattress material.

I'm a cold person but I still find the memory foam unbearably hot.

My partner has neck and shoulder problems and I often have mid back ache.

He is very fidgety and I am a v poor sleeper and wake up with movement.

We've just purchased a slatted wooden bed frame but now have to replace the mattress we thought would last another 5 years.

We had a zip & link before this but it was quite firm and not supportive enough for my back which is very arched.

We liked the memory foam bed initially but not keen on repeating this experience.

My budget is £800 to £1000.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gill,

Thanks for your question.

Given the weight differential of 5 stone, the best option is a split tension Soft and Medium, which will enable each half to be customised to suit the required feel and provide the support and comfort for each person suited to their weight.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

A Zip and Link option should eliminate the issue of being awoken with your partner's movement as you can't transfer movement between the separate mattresses.

Any mattress you purchase, which is to be placed on a slatted bed frame will tend to feel firmer than if it were placed on a sprung top base.

I note you aversion to memory foam and would therefore refer you to our Artisan range, which contain natural fillings together with calico encased pocket springs.

Before placing any order please contact our office on 0161 437 4419 for more specific advice.

Kind Regards, Mike.
